MODELING

The modeling/sculpting courses in clay are designed as much for beginners as for students who wish to improve or perfect their technique.


The object of the course is to teach students modeling/sculpting techniques and to develop the ability to translate their artistic image into three-dimensional form. Our approach enables the students to understand the particularity fo the three-dimensionnal expression and encourages them experiment by creating their own modelling/sculpture. Each student is followed personally, and assisted in the interaction between their creative image and the handling of the material.

As for the stone carving course, it is recommended that participants bring with them a project, either in the form of a clay model or a sketch, so that we can start from a prepared base with a well-defined object in view.

The first stage consists in making the structure to support the weight of the clay. 



The second stage is that of creation, or in modelling or sculpting the material. 

​

The third and final stage is that of building a mould, and casting the sculpture in plaster together with any necessary retouching.
