The stone carving workshops are designed for both beginners and advanced students wishing to improve or perfect their stone carving techniques.  An individual work programme will be created for each student, taking into account his or her level of skill.

The aim of these sculpture and stone carving workshops is to transmit to students stone-carving techniques, knowledge of materials and the different tools appropriate to them. Our approach enables beginners to study the particular nature of three-dimensional expression and encourages them to experiment by creating their own sculpture.

We recommend that students arrive with a defined project, either in the form of a clay model or a design, so that we can start from a prepared base and with a clear objective in view.  This allows for any necessary modifications to the project to be worked out before moving on to carving the block itself. We propose working with a beautiful local stone, the "pietra Leccese", which is of white in colour and of a medium hardness, but homogeneous. The size of the block chosen by the student should correspond to a work which can be completed during the workshop.
