Artistenstages


The  painting workshops are designed for beginners as well as for experienced students who wish to improve their painting technique. Professional students wishing to improve or perfect their knowledge of painting will work directly on their own paintings in close interaction with Andréas Dobay.

The object of these painting courses is to teach students painting techniques and to develop the ability to translate into a two-dimensional space what their individual vision suggest to them. Our approach encourages beginners to experiment with creating their own subject, and learn how to "realize" this subject by developing their ability to express in painting. Each student is followed personally, and assisted in finding the specific approach to the expression of their artistic sens.



From the techniques of oil, watercolor or pastel, the composition and tonal structure, the color theory to the concepts of expression. We experience the use of instruments, the drafting of direct color. The workshop is adapted to the level and capacities of each individual student. The more experienced will work more freely and experiment new artistic strategies.


Through different exercices and experiments with colour, realized with gouache, pastel or charcoal, the student will be led to define his or her project. These steps constitute the rough sketch, and lead on the one hand to building up a basic "vocabulary" of painting terms, and on the other to the conception of the project.
